Upon entering our office, our receptionist will welcome you as a member of our family. We will request that you complete our new patient forms. This paperwork provides us with your health history and other information about your condition.
Next, you will have a consultation with one of our doctors to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential correction options. The purpose of this initial visit is to help our doctors learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.
After your consultation, we will perform a complete chiropractic spinal examination and nerve function test. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
Depending on your specific condition, we may take X-rays as well. X-rays help us develop the most effective care plan for you, and alert us of any serious spinal conditions.
There are four major reasons that we x-ray our patients:
- Patient safety. If there are any reasons it might be unsafe for you to receive chiropractic care, x-rays will usually reveal that information.
- To help the doctor locate the exact area of the problem. X-rays allow the doctor to assess the overall health and alignment of your spine.
- To determine if there is any spinal degeneration or arthritis.
- X-rays help you, the patient, get a much better understanding of what's happening in your spine which is helpful in making decisions about the care you choose.
We will then schedule you for your second visit. Your second visit is when we will report to you our findings and whether we can help you or not. This second visit can often be scheduled later the same day as your first visit if necessary.
